JRS College’s one-year Pharmacy Assistant Diploma (NACC Curriculum) prepares you for entry-level roles in retail and community pharmacies across Scarborough and Toronto. Developed with industry input, this diploma combines hands-on lab training, pharmacy software proficiency, and clinical knowledge to ensure you can accurately prepare medications, manage inventory, and support pharmacists in compliance with Ontario’s regulatory standards.
You’ll gain expertise in:
Medication Dispensing & Dosage Calculations: Safe preparation of ointments, suspensions, capsules, IV solutions, and metric conversions.
Pharmacy Practice & Regulations: Roles of pharmacists vs. assistants, drug control, prescription-error prevention, and legal/ethical standards.
Pharmacy Software Systems: Practical training on Nexxsys and Pro-Pharm dispensary platforms for inventory, batch processing, and label generation.
Pharmacology & OTC Products: Drug classifications, therapeutic uses, generic vs. brand names, and guidance on over-the-counter and herbal remedies.
Client Services & Communication: Customer-service best practices, conflict resolution, and professional interaction in pharmacy settings.
A four-week practicum in a partnering retail pharmacy gives you the real-world experience to confidently step into positions as a Pharmacy Assistant upon graduation.
